Premium Crickets Shipping Policy

GUARANTEED LIVE DELIVERY

It's our policy to make sure you receive live healthy crickets and worms.  When the weather is in a normal temperature range (40 to 85 degrees), shipping is no problem.  Outside of that range, we have to take extra measures.

Your crickets and worms are shipped in a cardboard container and are packed with plenty of food to keep them happy and healthy.

All crickets and worms are guaranteed with the exception of the 110 Crickets and any Cricket Specials that we occasionally run on the website.  We only guarantee worms that are ordered 500 or above using an air service.  If you order a smaller amount and they arrive dead, we will add worms to your next order to compensate for your loss.

July 13, 2006 Update:  The Post Office just informed us they are no longer in the Live Delivery business.  Delta Airlines (their main carrier) no longer accepts Live Goods for shipment.  We concluded a contract with DHL and they are now our main shipper.

Summer Status: Moderate to Difficult weather for shipping.  Crickets do fine, but the worms are not doing well with using the Ground Shipping Service.

  • If you order worms, choose an Air Service to ship.  If you live in Georgia, Alabama, and South Carolina, choose Ground.

  • If you choose "next day air" as your shipping service and live in a DHL considered "Rural" area, please note that they add 1 additional day to your delivery.

  • Crickets that sit outside in the direct sunlight do not do very well.  Please make sure someone is home during the delivery day.  If no one can be home, please have the crickets delivered to your place of work.

IMPORTANT NOTE: During the cold weather, you may receive a shipment of crickets that appears to be dead. Before passing judgment, you should put the crickets in an 80 degree area making sure air gets to them and give them approximately 6 hours to come out of dormancy. 90% of the time your crickets will come back around.

Order Windows

We accept orders all week.  Your order must be received by us by 2:00 Eastern Time for same day shipping - otherwise it will be shipped the next day. The best time to order (to avoid the weekend wait ) is early in the week. Orders are shipped out Monday through Thursday of each week. If an order will sit over the weekend, it will be held until Monday.

Cold Weather Shipping

If the temperature is below 20 degrees, we will hold the shipment.  If that is the case, we'll post the warning on the website.  You can still get your crickets, but you'll have to forgo the guarantee.  Please contact our shipping department at 800-224-4668 and we will release your order.

Winter Pack Option

Crickets are warm weather creatures.  If the temperature is too cold they will die.  During cold weather spells, we add a heat pack and extra box to your cricket shipment.  The cost of the cold weather packaging is $1.50 for the Heat Pack and $1.00 for the double box.  During the ordering process you'll have the opportunity to select the Cold Weather Package option.

If the temperature at your location is 40 degrees or lower, you must order the Winter Pack for each thousand crickets ordered in order to receive the "Guarantee Live Deliver".  All crickets are shipped in a box that holds up to one thousand crickets.

If you order the Winter Pack and your crickets arrive dead, then call us at 800 224-4668 to have us immediately ship out fresh crickets.

We'll do everything in our power to make sure you receive clean, fresh, live, and healthy crickets!

Hold your crickets at the DHL Terminal during cold weather

If you know you won't be home when the DHL makes it's delivery, have your packages held at the DHL Terminal.  During the order check out process, there is a text box for your comments.  Place your request to "Hold at DHL Terminal" and include your telephone number.  Many of our customers will go by the DHL Terminal to pick up their crickets as a normal manner of business.

Normal Weather Shipping

When the temperature is above 40 degrees, we rarely have any problems with shipping.  In the rare event that your crickets do arrive dead call us at 800 224-4668 and we'll immediately make another shipment of crickets to your location.

DHL as the shipper

We have been using DHL for some time now with relatively good success.  The problem we face is that when customers in rural areas order overnight or 2nd day shipping, DHL adds one extra day to the shipping time.  They also tend to put the box at the front door without ringing the doorbell.  We put bright neon stickers on the front of each box instructing the delivery person to ring doorbell and knock on door.

If your shipment is delayed for any reason after we shipped the package, your best bet is to contact DHL directly and provide them your tracking number.
