Waxworms
Waxworms are the Larvae of the waxmoth (or Bee Moth) (Falleria Melonella).
They are creamy white in color and are from 1/2" to 1" in length. Their diameter
are approximately 1/4" in diameter.
Waxworms do best when stored in temperatures between 50-60 degrees. If
this is not possible, then store in the coolest spot in your home. Most
refrigerators are colder than this; many times the butter tray on the door of
the refrigerator is the best place to find this warmer temperature.
We suggest you order no more than a two week supply.
Superworms
Upon arrival, shake the worms out of the shipping newspaper and put into a plastic
container (kitty litter or dishpan). The container should have a bedding of
chicken mesh, wheat bran, corn meal, or worm chow that we sell. When bedding becomes
sandy in appearance, add more.
Moisture food such as a small piece of raw potato, carrot or celery is essential.
Do not refrigerate Superworms. It will kill them.
They will not change to pupae or beetles.
Their shelf life is approximately four months.
Mealworms (Giant and Medium)
Upon arrival, shake the worms out of the shipping newspaper and put into a plastic
container (kitty litter or dishpan). The container should have a one inch
bedding of chicken mesh, wheat bran, corn meal, or worm chow that we sell. When bedding
becomes sandy in appearance, add more.
Moisture food such as a small piece of raw potato, carrot or celery is essential.
Meal worms can be refrigerated and last for months. When removing from
refrigerator, give them moisture food. As worms get to room temperature, they
will get more lively.
Never stand worms in the sun or extreme heat. If worms are kept at room
temperature, they change to pupae's, then to beetles very quickly.
