Our Premium Disease Free, Pest Free, Live Crickets. You choose the size!

  • Many cricket farmers have tried but few have succeeded in producing a cricket that is as healthy and hearty as ours.  We cut no corners when it comes to raising our crickets. If you ordered from other sources in the past, you will appreciate the pristine quality cricket and professional package that gets delivered to you.
  • Buy in bulk for an even better value.

How long can I keep my crickets alive?

  • The life span of a cricket is 8 to 10 weeks.  Your goal should be to order enough crickets to last you for around 1 month.
  • Try ordering more smaller crickets and let them grow into larger ones.  You'll find that your trip to Pet Smart to buy 12 cent each crickets will be over!
  • All of the products that you need to feed your cricket for that month can be found in our Kricket Complete Kit.  Getting creative with apples and oranges only leads to a smelly cricket container.

Live Delivery Guarantee

We have a 24 hour notification window from the time you receive your package! If it’s after hours or on the weekend, please email us at and we will see it as soon as we reopen for business. Failure to do so voids the live delivery guarantee! We only guarantee insects that are ordered of a quantity 500 or above, have the correct weather protection (if needed) and shipping method per temperatures. If your order meets the standards of our Live Delivery Guarantee and is unfortunately dead on arrival we will charge $4.95 then we will repack and reship your order. The $4.95 processing fee will cover all other incurred costs of the reshipment.

If you order a smaller amount and they arrive dead, we will add insects to your next order to compensate for your loss. We reserve the right to determine if we will make a replacement shipment to you in the event of DOA or add more crickets at no charge to your next order. The good news is we only have to reship .5% of our orders. Please check below prior to placing an order to ensure you are allowing your insects a safe travel.

FedEx Delays, Damages and Refusals

Whatever happens to your order, whether it arrives damaged, delayed or dead, do not refuse the package! FedEx will charge our company $16 to ship the product back to us. This charge will be passed on to you and we reserve the right to deny any reshipments to you. So do not refuse your shipment by any means! As a customer you are not the only person who can reject the order. Apartment Complex offices can refuse the package if they deem it not allowed in the complex. If you live in an apartment please check with the office first! Also, FedEx can also refuse the shipment at their ship centers or FedEx office and print stores. Office and print stores will refuse your shipment, do not ship their! If you ship to a FedEx Ship Center only use express services provided (FedEx 2 day Air, Standard Overnight and Priority Overnight). We have been using FedEx for some time now with relatively good success. If your shipment is delayed for any reason after we shipped the package, your best bet is to contact FedEx directly and provide them your tracking number. If FedEx can determine it was an error on their end and not “an act of god” (your order got stuck because of snow for example) we will make sure we will do everything in our power to rectify your issue! From time to time FedEx can accidently damage a package. Don’t worry we have you covered! As long as you do not refuse the package we will replace what you lost (we reserve the right to determine at the time whether it is to add the missing items to your next order or reship the items).

Weather Restrictions

If your temperatures are very hot or very cold you can reduce the risk of receiving dead product. Think about shipping your insects to a FedEx Ship Center (do not ship to office and print centers as they have the right to refuse your shipment). To find your nearest ship center there is an option for you to select the nearest Ship Center at the time of placing your order. Your order will avoid the hot trip in the FedEx van and FedEx will call you when they arrive. If your order is shipped via FedEx Ground or Home Delivery, FedEx will refuse the shipment at the ship center and will be returned to us. We will not replace or refund these orders.

Normal Weather Shipping

When the temperature is above 50 degrees at night and below 80 degrees during the day, we rarely have any problems with shipping. In the rare event that your insects do arrive all dead, email us at (remember to take pictures) and we will immediately work on rectifying your issue. As long as you are in the parameters of the temperature requirements we will happily reship your order and all you will pay is the $4.95 processing charge. If part of your live delivery arrives dead, we will compensate by adding free live products to your next order.

Hot Weather Shipping

If your temperature is above 80 degrees in the day, we will ship your order but there will be no guarantee if shipped via FedEx Ground or Home Delivery. If daytime temperatures are between 80 and 85 degrees your order will be guaranteed if shipped Priority overnight. Once daytime temperatures exceed 85 degrees there is no live arrival guarantee under any circumstances.

Cold Weather Shipping

Insects live within a given temperature range. If the temperature is too cold they will die. During cold weather spells, you can add Weather Protection to your shipment. The cost of the weather packaging is $3.00 per item for the packaging. During the ordering process you'll have the opportunity to select the Weather Protection option. If the transit temperature is below 50 degrees at night choose weather protection to receive the guarantee. If the transit temperatures in your area are between 40 and 30 degrees at night, choose the weather protection and FedEx Priority Overnight shipping service if you want the guarantee. If your night time temperatures drop below 25 degrees there is no guarantee in any circumstance. When Insects get too cold they go dormant. Before calling please ensure they have been acclimated to warmer temperatures for at least 3 hours (try to avoid heat lamps as they tend to dry out the dormant crickets and cook them). A lot of times this is all that is needed to spring them back into life.

Shipping Your Orders

Shipping to a PO Box

Only the Post Office can ship to a PO Box. Since we don't use the Post Office as a shipper, we cannot ship to PO Boxes. It is your responsibility to put in the correct shipping address. We need a physical address.

Incorrect Addresses

If you put in an incorrect address and we ship, FedEx will try to find the correct address and make the correction. FedEx will charge us $16.00 for the service. That $16.00 will be charged back to you - Please make sure you put in your correct address! If the delivery is delayed due to you putting in the wrong address, the guarantee is void.

Shipping to an Apartment

FedEx will deliver your package to an Apartment. However, they will not leave the package at the front door of an Apartment if you are not there. If you make an order and have shipped to an Apartment, it is your responsibility to be home when FedEx makes their delivery. If you cannot be home, have the shipment sent to your place of employment or a friend's house. We will not guarantee shipments where FedEx makes an attempt to deliver to an Apartment and no one is home. Consider shipping your Insects to a FedEx Ship Center, if you select FedEx Express Services Only (2 Day Air, Standard Overnight and Priority Overnight)

Cricket Care Sheet

Cricket Care Sheet

Now that you bought your crickets from Premium Crickets, how do you keep them alive?  You should plan to keep your crickets for around 1 month to get the maximum benefit from your purchase.  Here are a few tips, questions, and answers that will make feeding your reptile with Premium Crickets a breeze.

Where should I keep my crickets?

Crickets have some characteristics of people – their like their own space.  That means you can’t keep them in the shipping box that we provide as their permanent house.

I recommend to people to go to Wal-Mart, Target, or Home Depot and purchase a plastic storage tote (see pictured):

You can poke holes in the top for ventilation.  The top really is not necessary until the crickets start growing wings – which is just after they reach ¾”.  If you get a container that is at least 2 feet high then no top is necessary.  Deeper the better

Choose a clear plastic container – clearer the better.  We found the clear containers are slipperier and the crickets cannot climb out.

Open your box of crickets INSIDE the plastic tote.  If you do not then you will surly have a house full of crickets.  You have no idea how many first time buyers of bulk crickets make that mistake.

Pull out the egg crates that are inside the cricket-shipping box and place the crickets and the egg crates together in the plastic tote.

Throw a hand full of cricket feed on the bottom of the plastic tote and a small plate full of cricket water – and you are in business.

How do I remove the crickets from the storage container to feed to my reptile?

A good trick that I found is to place a toilet paper roll in the container.  Crickets like extra space and a good hiding place so they will happily go inside the roll.  Just pick the roll up and transport your crickets to your reptile cage.  This is a good trick for those of you who don’t like to touch crickets.  The pros don’t really care – they just scoop up a hand full and toss them in the reptile cage.

How long do crickets live?

It takes 42 days to produce a full grown cricket.  Once they are full grown, they generally have two to three weeks before they pass on.

When do crickets begin to chirp?

Some people get annoyed with the sound of chirping crickets.  The chirping begins when they grow beyond ¾” in size and start developing wings.  So if you do not want to hear the chirping, order smaller crickets.

Why do my crickets smell bad?

The crickets do not smell bad - it is the bacteria that cause the odor.  What causes bacteria to flourish?  Rotting food and dead crickets.

What rots? – All the food that you throw in the cricket cage – like potatoes, carrots, etc.

What should I feed my crickets?

Try our cricket food.  It does not rot and has all the vitamins and most minerals needed to produce a fully ‘gut loaded’ cricket.  We have our cricket food specially blended and grounded to achieve an ideal growth rate and gut load for our crickets.

Other food sources work, but not as well.  If you do not want our food, go with oatmeal, corn meal, and/or dog food.  You can use a potato, however it's full of starch and not a good food supplement.

You also need to provide a water source for your crickets.  The cheap way is a wet sponge or paper towel.  However, keeping the sponge clean can be a challenge over time.  Paper towels dry out quickly.

What is the ‘Cricket Water’ that you sell?

We sell our cricket water in a dehydrated form.  When you get your bag of cricket water, add the contents to 1 gallon of water.  Stir for about 15 minutes and you will see it turn into a ‘jello’ form.  It is the same stuff you buy at the Pet Store – just no fancy label. Scoop a small amount on a small plate (or jar cap) and change out every 3 days.  It makes watering your crickets a snap.

Do I need to refrigerate the cricket water?

No, you do not.  I carry around the same cricket water to reptile shows for people to see for over two years.  The cricket water should be stored in a cool location.  If it goes dry, simply add some more water to rehydrate.

Why do I need to ‘dust’ my crickets with Calcium? (Rather than feeding them with Calcium)

Many people make the mistake of trying to ‘gut load’ their cricket with calcium-supplemented products (like cricket water, etc.).  Here is the problem – a cricket has an exoskeleton.  That means their skeleton is on the outside of their body.  Too much calcium makes their skeleton brittle and they cannot molt it off as they grow to their next stage of development.  Premature death is the result.

We sell a high-grade calcium product that you can use to coat your crickets prior to feeding to your reptile.  We recommend that you dust your crickets with calcium every other feeding.

What else do I need to consider?

  • Crickets should be kept at 70 degrees or better (find somewhere inside your house)
  • Crickets and fly strips do not do well together – the fly strip wins.
  • Crickets are very sensitive to chemicals.  They are hearty, but weak to chemicals like paint, new carpet out-gassing, and of course – bug spray.
  • Clean your cricket cage out every week.
  • Have fun!

What is Weather Protection

A 40 hour heat pack is used as weather protection when temperatures are between 30 degrees and 50 degrees. Some insects like the heat and cannot handle the cold very well. A 40 hour heat pack is all the warmth they need during shipping.

There is a $3.00 charge for this service. Please see our shipping policy to ensure your shipment has the live arrival guarantee.

Thank you for such great crickets! My beardies love them and 1000 can last my bigest eater two weeks, which is a life saver since unlike other places half of my crickets die before they can be eaten, but with yours i have hardly any(other than the ones i feed off!) Thank you, Matt cook

I am extremely pleased with Premium Crickets. They arrived in only 2 days and 99% were alive, not like buying from a pet store. When buying at store more than 1/2 were dead. As far as crickets go I was very happy and my beardie FLAIR just loves them and you. Thank you so very much. Your prices are so much cheaper than I was paying, .08 cents a cricket. We feel like yours are a present. Thanks again and you will be hearing from me every two weeks. Sandy---Langhorne, Pa.

Poor Customer Service and outcome. I ordered 1000 3/8 crickets and received 400 instead. I contacted Mike about this issue but all I got was a response saying, "Are you sure?" Well, I received the wrong amount of crickets of course I am sure! I am extremely dissatisfied with the service I have received. I have been waiting more than three days after I sent a response. I HIGHLY recommend people do NOT purchase from this place and if they do it is at their risk. I will not be purchasing from this place again as nothing has been done to remedy this outrageous error! Seriously, i received 400 of the 1000 I ordered. I came to this website based off of all the good reviews and now I see how misleading it all is.

Ordered 1k of 3/8 crickets. Atleast 100 were dead from being crushed or unknown reasons. There were no water/food source provided (potato). But most likely I will still order again. Thanks

We ordered these cricjets in prepartion for our trip the the Mojave desert in 30 days, where we will survive solely off of cricjets and powerade. They were very delicious and all came alive, except for the 2 1/2 that drowned in powerade. For all you curious kiddies Red Powerade pairs the best with cricjets.

Hi there, I just wanted to let you know how impressed I am with your crickets. I had previously been buying from Big Apple Herp and was finding myself needing a box of crickets a week for a colony of pygmy chameleons and a veiled purely because the crickets I was getting would die either in shipping of shortly there after. I got a box of your crickets today and I swear there weren't 10 dead in the entire box. Also, I had to buy new crickets because the crickets from my last box from you guys had lived so long they were just too big for my lizards! So they were very healthy. I'm really glad I found your company - it is saving me a lot of money and I'm getting better quality crickets overall. Sincerely, fleur

Im new to ordering crickets online. Three weeks ago I ordered crickets from another online company, when I received them about 25 percent were dead, then within 2 weeks the majority had died. That company sent me a replacement. When I received it 75 percent were dead on arrival. I gave premium crickets a chance, and ordered from them yesterday. I used overnight shippinf, and we had 25 degree weather here. I'm happy to say that they arrived with every cricket alive. The container was insulated and there was a heat pack in it too! Thank you premium crickets!! I'll define try refer you to everyone.

We just got our crickets today from FedEx. We had ordered 1500 1/2 inch and 1000 3/8. they all arrived alive. It was worth the 2 dollars for the heat pack and them putting the potatoes in to feed them on their trip was a bonus. We had been buying from another company and had two batches of 1500 arrive DOA. When I called them they told me that I would have to pay for the shipping again. This cost was more than the crickets. We will recommend this company to all of our friends. Thank you very much. A very pleased customer, Lynn H

My First order! I ordered 1,000 crickets, 250 super worms, Criket food, and water. I declined the cold weather package and then when they were close to shipping I called because the weather took a turn. They got it in before shipping. All the Super worms were alive I accidently ordered wrong size ( My Fault) But only lost about 100 or so crickets. Very impressed this is where I will be ordering from now! Thank you!

I received my crickets in 1 day. All were healthy and very few were dead. My only complaint is that the pinheads that I have bought from our local pet store were considerably bigger. These were the size of small ants. I was a little surprised by that but that is no fault of Premuim Cricket's. Next time I order I will just order the 1/4 size.

At least 600 of my crickets died within 2 days of receiving my shipment. Price was OK, but not since now I will have to reorder from somewhere

I am glad this review was put up. There are many factors that go into keeping crickets alive. You need the right amount of space and the proper food. Most customers do not have this experience, but some do. If this person calls me, we can compensate them towards their next order. Mike

Ordered 1,000 crickets on a Tuesday, said my package would arrive two days later on Thursday, but it ended up arriving the next day, which was great. As far as I could tell, every single cricket arrived alive, too, which was amazing. They look healthy and I am very pleased with my order. Will definitely be ordering again in the future.

I ordered a thousand full grown crickets during the heat wave and took a gamble with the 2 day shipping which is not gauranteed as oppose to the more pricey one day shipping with the gaurantee but they arrived 100% healthy and alive against all odds thank you premium crickets you have made a customer for life! :)

This site has by far the best customer service I have ever come across. I have been ordering various sized crickets and worms for about 2 years now for my bearded dragon and have never received any insects that were not in outstanding health. Once I placed an order in the colder months, and did not get the heating package as was recommended because I didn't think it was going to be that cold. Some of the crickets had frozen. Even though it was my fault I contacted them and they sent me another order free!! You can't beat these prices either. Best quality, best prices, amazing customer service, don't know what else you could ask for. Just wanted to thank you for outstanding service. You can count on my business for years to come.

I have ordered online from two other companies. When I received my shipments from the other companies, 20-50% of the crickets were DOA. There were other bugs/pest in the box. The crickets were not healthy and acted if they hadn't had a meal. They didn't last long either. One company messed up my order and I didn't receive my crickets on time. Cost me extra $ to go to the pet store. The crickets I had ordered were all sorts of sizes, many were too big for my beareded to eat. My Premium Crickets experience: I can honestly say that 99% were alive. There were no other bugs in them. They were also the size I ordered. They looked healthy. They didn't go straight for the food. I am not going to order my crickets anywhere but Premium Crickets.

Hello, I'm contacting you in regards to my recent order. I just wanted to take a minute to thank you for you excellent service. My orders are almost always shipped the day after I order. I was nervous with the colder weather however I received just about all the crickets chirping away. I'll admit I have tried another company as a comparison and my whole order came dead and they have yet to respond to my numerous e-mails. I did have quite a few dead wax worms in my container this time. I'm not sure why as they were in a separate box without the heat pack. At any rate thanks again! I know people are quick to complain when something is not right but usually don't commend you when you do everything right! Have a great New Year! Sincerely, Kristy R. Chlebowski

Hello, and THANK YOU for fast service and live crickets. The reason i say this is the last place i ordered from said 3 to 5 days shipping and it took over 3 weeks for them to get here from Alabama and everytime i called i just got the run around and would not issue a refund, on top of that the amount of crickets was not even close and half were dead and they were only in the mail for 4 days. Anyways thanks for the great service and updates about the order, my lizards are happy, we are happy and will be placing regular orders. Brandon

I ordered 1000 crickets and received a damaged box, filled with dead and rotting crickets and about 25 survivors, after a 2-day express shipment in fair weather. This was the third order in a row that was damaged, and I notified Premium about the previous problems, though they never responded. Premium used to be the best, now they really couldn't get any worse. - Former Customer.

I just wanted to send a little note and say thank you for always sending good healthy ALIVE crickets. We have ordered a few times from you and I must say that Im very impressed with your company. In this day and age that is so hard to find!!! thanks again and Happy Friday. Thanks, Keith

I could add to the reviews about the healthy all-alive crickets I receive, but that's been done many times and is entirely true. I want to point out that I have had to ask for specific ship dates in the past due to vacations, etc., and even had them shipped to the neighbor once while we were gone, and shipping is timely every time. You can count on these guys to ship your order when you need and expect it, which is very important with hungry reptiles waiting! :)

My Beardies are so happy with your crickets. Your service is perfect, fast and inexpensive. My three beardies were costing me a fortune in crickets from the local pet store at $.12 each. Even with shipping I buy them for 1/3 the price getting them from you. My previous orders have arrived with very few dead out of 500 each time. I will definately continue to order on a regular basis!!! Satisfied Loyal customer, Tracy in Michigan

I have been very pleased with Premium Crickets crickets! I've tried some of the others, but none have matched the quality and value of Premium. Not only do the crickets arrive healthy, they STAY healthy! I feed several thousand crickets a month and look forward to feeding many thousands more of Premium Crickets! Thanks again, Vicki Chritton-Myers, Owner, Myers' Ark, West Plains, Missouri.

In your rating you only go as far as 5 but I would rate you as a 10. Being in the military I am constantly on the road and have come to the realization that I would not trust my dragons food source but with you. I was blessed to have found your store and wouldn't change the source of my dragons source of food for the life of me. God Bless your interest to offer a quality product. Thank you again and again.

I've ordered from this site a few times and I've been largely happy with the results, at least 800 crickets always arrive alive and most of them are the correct size, i would give this site 5 stars if it weren't for the 2 spiders that shipped in my last order. I will say that they process orders quickly and the product arrives right on schedule but you may get more than you intended.

Mike just to let you know thanks for the tip about the warming of the crickets. It reall does work. I pushed my luck a little to far this time.My order took 3 days to get here this time and we had a Colded front come guys looked a little sad. I placed the box in my oven(gas) no heat on just a pilot light for a bit. I only lost about 100 out of my 1000 or more. Hay guys the really do come back to life. Thanks again

over 10% dead on both crickets and phoenix worms. when I contacted premium crickets they blamed me instead of UPS delays or the fact that UPS left crickets on doorstep. Winter packing consists of a thin wrap of styrofoam. Would only recommend in ideal shipping conditions. Do not stand behind their guarantee.

Got my crickets in the mail today and you are not kidding when you say your crickets are healthy! There were only 3 or 4 dead ones out of 1000!!! They are very active and leave no doubt as to how healthy they are. The ones I have been buying up until now pale in comparison and generally are half dead (literally) when I get them. I will definitely be back! :)

Mike Thanks for the great crickets. I have 2 Bearded Dragons that are very hungry and they go through 500 in just a couple of weeks. I live in the middle of Ski country Colorado and you just cannot find quality crickets up here. Denver is 1 hour away and that's a long way to get bugs. Thanks for your great service. Mike-We received our cricket shipment today and the crickets look great!! We are still new to the reptile world. My 8 year old son got a bearded dragon (Rocky) in July. We were going to the pet store 3 times a week for crickets. This was taking a lot of time and was very expensive. We started ordering in bulk a few months back, but were having lots of problems......dead crickets, dying shortly after arrival and not giving a complete order. I had heard about your crickets and thus far, all looks good. Thank you for your supply and I"ll probably be ordering more next month.

Have a good holiday!

Kim Cassidy

by on March 5, 2007 is much cheaper lower your prices and it would be better

Reply from Premium Crickets: While their crickets are cheaper, their shipping and handling fees are more than double our fees.

Look at the total cost and you'll see we come out ahead.

I received my shipment. I just wanted to tell you that I really like your shipping box. It's easy to open (unlike Armstrong Crickets' box) and I have a very low mortality rate.
I am a very happy customer.

I just placed my third order for 1,000 crickets and I am thrilled to find Mike at Premium Crickets. I am currently feeding 3 fire-bellied toads, 2 chubby frogs, 3 different kinds of tree frogs, 1 leopard gecko, 1 tarantula, 1 banded frog, and 1 tomato frog crickets. I also, as a treat for my 15 turtles, I feed them some crickets. I was paying 10 cents each at my local pet store and I had the hassle of going to get them several times a week. I am now purchasing from Mike at much cheaper prices, but also saved the time and hassle of going to the pet store. They are delivered to my post office box in just a couple of days. Thank you Mike, you're a life saver. Kim J. in Missouri

Thank you for the super fast delivery of live, healthy crickets. The entire transaction was fantastic. The crickets were received in good condition and in a very timely manner. I am still waiting for crickets I ordered from another supplier and they were ordered two weeks before I ordered from you! Will definitely order Premium Crickets again.

WOW! I must say that i'm extremely impressed on the quality of the crickets i've received...They are the healthiest and cleanest crickets i've ever bought! They arrived in prestine condition, gut-loaded to the max with no dead or "sick" insects or pests. PLUS, there's always a few hundred extra on every thousand! All of my many chameleons enjoy these tasty treats and actually look, act and feel better as a result of the extra steps that you take in producing such a fine feeder insect. Hats off to you! Don't change a thing. You've got all of the other competition blown away!! I'm spreading the good news to other chameleon breeders here in Florida about your extaordinary crickets!! Thanks! Bri the chameleon guy,
